TURKEY
I visited Istanbul where I saw Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Kilyos Beach on the Black Sea and the Grand Bazaar. Afterwards, I flew to Cappadocia, a semi-arid region in central Turkey, known for its distinctive “fairy chimneys,” tall, cone-shaped rock formations clustered in Monks Valley, Göreme. I also climbed inside Derinkuyu, a large multi-level underground city that once accommodated up to 20,000 people in the 8th–7th centuries BCE.
